The EMMAG Programme

Created in the spirit of cooperation and exchange between Europe, the Maghreb and Egypt, EMMAG is a mobility programme in higher education, funded in the framework of the Erasmus Mundus Action 2 program funded by the European Commission. EMMAG will provide nearly 260 scholarships at all levels.

To set up this programme, 20 prestigious universities from Europe (France, Spain, Greece, Italy, and Czech Republic) from Maghreb (Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia) and from Egypt got into partnership with the aim of developing a high-quality consortium and university exchanges. This program targets students with academic excellence at undergraduate, master, doctoral and post-doc levels from all fields of study as well as academic and administrative staff.

Coordinated by Pierre et Marie Curie University in Paris and co-coordinated by the University of Oran, the programme started in September 2012 and its first call for applications will be launched from November 2012 to January 2013. EMMAG will provide scholarships to almost 200 students from the Maghreb’s region and from Egypt for their mobility towards Europe. Nearly 60 scholarships will finance the mobility towards North Africa for Europeans.

The first scholarship holders start their mobility in July 2013 onwards. 87 scholarship holders benefited from this opportunity.

80 scholarship holders of the second cohort started their mobility at the beginning of the academic year 2014.

The call for applications to select the thrid cohort will be open from November 17th 2014 to February 15th 2015.
