The EMMAG Programme
Created in the spirit of cooperation and exchange between Europe, the Maghreb and Egypt, and funded in the framework of the Erasmus Mundus Action 2 program by the European Commission, EMMAG has provided 206 scholarships at all levels.
To set up this programme, 20 prestigious universities from Europe (France, Spain, Greece, Italy, and Czech Republic) from Maghreb (Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia) and from Egypt got into partnership with the aim of developing a high-quality consortium and university exchanges. This programme allowed students with academic excellence at undergraduate, master, doctoral and post-doc levels from all fields of study as well as academic and administrative staff to improve their language skills and also experience new teaching and learning methods. Furthermore, a cultural impact was also highlighted by many scholarship holders. Through the structured mobility, especially at the higher levels (staff, post-doctorate and doctorate), new joint collaborations have been established and existing links have been strengthened.
Coordinated by Pierre et Marie Curie University in Paris and co-coordinated by the University of Oran, the programme started in September 2012 and finished on July 15th 2016. EMMAG provided scholarships to 176 students from the Maghreb’s region and from Egypt for their mobility towards Europe. 30 scholarships financed the mobility towards North Africa for Europeans.
